PARTNERSHIP OVERVIEW
Educational strategic partnerships are being formed in surrounding Middle Tennessee counties and cities as part of the region-wide initiative to Educate Middle Tennessee. The goals of the partnership are to:
  • provide higher education opportunities to the citizens of local communities;
  • focus on adult learners by providing encouragement and support as returning adult learners work toward achieving education goals; and,
  • identify and secure available financial aid for those returning adult learners.
Higher education is important for both individual career advancement and the overall economic development of communities. Geographic limitations, financial restrictions, and work and family obligations have often hindered the ability of adults to return to school and gain the education that they need for advancement.

Technological developments in recent years have allowed Middle Tennessee State University and other 2 year community colleges to extend their reach beyond their campuses and to partner with city and county governments to provide these educational opportunities which were previously unavailable to many.
